Yet another Chicago artists with a very unique style of his own, Blackdaylight cooks up a deep dish of trip-hop grooves. Sonically heavy, Black's infusion of gritty vocals and acoustic samples over a sort of 808 purism is cosmic-tribal. It is "deep in the sheets" music - sensual, throbbing and grimy. And while there is certainly a fair amount of "daylight", the larger portion of this album is dark and serious. Imagine yourself standing on a rooftop watching the city burn as tracks like Quicksand bang relentlessly. This is mood music - intoxicating.
The selections on this release are all live versions of the songs. They have a rough and raw quality to them, with some distortion and background static resulting in a very warm and personal sound.

Banging soulful tunes from blackdaylight.
If you're into Flying lotus, Nosaj thing then listen to this album. Okay, this is not as futuristic sounding but these bass heavy, dubby Detroit flavoured beats are quite lovely. Slowing down beats, speeding them up, and most of the time quite melodic and even melancholic (The Second Season Approaches). Just great headphone music. Don't forget to listen to other great blackdaylight albums on the Stigae netlabel either. Those albums are even better in my opinion. Everything this guy produces is ace, period.
